With CLIC LOOP we recover keratin from hair salons, vocational schools and academies to make CLIC TERRA, CLIC SEA and CLIC ARCHI. Learn more
CLIC TERRA vs plastic mulch. ISO 14040/44 LCA with critical review.
CLIC SEA vs polypropylene booms. ISO 14040/44 LCA.
CLIC ARCHI vs glass wool panels. Assessment validated with EIT Climate-KIC.
The climate has already changed. In the fields: longer, drier summers and plastic buried in the soil. At sea: oil spills contained with polypropylene booms that end up as waste too. We are fighting the climate crisis with more plastic.
We propose another way: a fibre that already exists, designed by nature to protect, that ended up in the bin every day. Today it shields the soil from the sun and keeps it moist, traps hydrocarbons in ports and quiets the noise in our spaces.
And we measure it, because promises are not enough against climate change.
Every application comes with real data, not promises.
Validated with the University of Almería, AINIA, ICM-CSIC, UPC, University of Barcelona, UAB and Tecnocampus.

2024
Clic Recycle was born in the fields. Our founder, Valérie Itey, saw plastic everywhere in the crops and ever stronger heat, and went looking for a new material. She remembered her grandfather, who placed keratin around his vines to keep animals away.
For five years we have been recovering keratin from hair salons, vocational schools and hairdressing academies in Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands, tracing it with blockchain and transforming it into a patented biomaterial (PCT WO/2025/093799).
SOILS
Every year, 20 million hectares of crops are covered with plastic film. As it breaks down it leaves 619 to 929 kg of microplastics per hectare, and weeding adds 3.6 to 5.4 kg of pesticides per hectare. CLIC TERRA protects the soil without plastic or herbicides, and returns to the earth.
HEAT
In a dry-farmed vineyard, during the 2026 heatwave days, the root zone under CLIC TERRA was up to 9 °C cooler: from 38.5 °C to 29.4 °C. And in trials with the University of Almería and Cajamar, irrigation fell by 30 to 40%.
SEAS
Synthetic textiles are one of the main sources of microplastics in the ocean: 35%, according to the IUCN. Ports contain spills with polypropylene booms, which also end up as waste. CLIC SEA traps hydrocarbons and heavy metals without shedding plastic microfibres.
WASTE
Every year, 2.2 billion kg of hair keratin end up in landfills or incinerators, and burning 1 kg emits 4.5 kg of CO₂. Keratin is neither farmed nor mined: it already exists and grows back.
SUPPLY CHAIN
Our supply chain does not start in a mine or a field, but at the neighbourhood salon. Transforming keratin is another matter: few manufacturers in Europe can do it. We work with specialised manufacturers under agreement, and every bag is traced from the salon to its transformation.
Valérie is also an FAO mentor for women agri-entrepreneurs in Africa and the Arab world.

CLIC COMMUNITY & LAB
Workshops and clean-ups
Recycling workshops and beach clean-ups where schools, companies and communities take part.

CLIC ART
Recycled art
Art installations made with recovered materials.

CLIC EVENTS
Talks, fairs and events
We present Clic Recycle at talks and trade fairs, and organise events for brands as part of their CSR strategy, and for salons and hairdressing schools.

A fibre that nature had already perfected can change the way our spaces sound. At Clic Recycle, we have turned it into an acoustic material.
How can materials made from keratin and industrial hemp find new applications in the agri-food sector? This was one of the questions behind Clic Recycle's participation in Next Bite Satellite Warsaw 2026, an EIT Food initiative that connects innovative startups with established companies to explore potential business collaborations.
Agricultural innovation increasingly depends on finding new ways to use resources, improve production systems and respond to environmental pressures. The Agrobiotech Lleida Investment Forum, held on 28 October 2026 at Fira de Lleida, offered a platform for emerging agri-food projects to present their proposals to potential investors.
How can investment help restore nature and build a more resilient Mediterranean? This question is at the heart of Invest in Nature 2026, which brings together companies, investors and ecosystem representatives at IESE Business School to explore how regenerating natural capital can contribute to the region's security and prosperity.
How can we turn real problems into practical solutions? This was the central challenge of WAS, where students came together to explore circular economy challenges through a collaborative hackathon.
