How can materials made from keratin and industrial hemp find new applications in the agri-food sector? This was one of the questions behind Clic Recycle's participation in Next Bite Satellite Warsaw 2026, an EIT Food initiative that connects innovative startups with established companies to explore potential business collaborations.

Clic Recycle was selected to take part in the programme's corporate matchmaking meetings, as one of a group of startups invited to present their solutions and explore opportunities with industrial partners. As part of the initiative, the company had a meeting scheduled with Avril, a leading player in the agricultural and agri-food sectors.

Connecting emerging solutions with industry needs

Unlike traditional networking events, the Next Bite corporate matchmaking format is designed to bring startups and established companies together around specific business needs and collaboration opportunities.

These meetings give startups a space to present their technologies, explain the challenges they address and discuss how their solutions could meet the needs identified by larger companies.

Exploring new applications for recovered materials

One of the core solutions in Clic Recycle's work is CLIC TERRA, a patented biodegradable mulch made from recovered keratin and plant fibres.

Designed for agricultural applications, CLIC TERRA aims to protect the soil, retain moisture and regulate temperature, while helping to reduce weed growth, erosion and reliance on conventional plastic mulch and herbicides. These properties make the material particularly relevant to discussions on regenerative agriculture, resource efficiency and the development of alternatives to conventional agricultural inputs.

From material innovation to potential collaboration

For startups working with emerging materials, connecting with established companies is an important step in understanding the needs of different industries and identifying possible routes to implementation.

Corporate matchmaking initiatives such as Next Bite create a structured framework for these conversations. They bring different perspectives together: startups contribute new materials, technologies and approaches, while established companies can share their sector knowledge, operational needs and potential application contexts.

For Clic Recycle, the meeting with Avril was an opportunity to present its work and explore possible areas of common interest between circular material innovation and the agri-food sector. Taking part in Next Bite also made it possible to present this approach in an industry-focused setting and to discuss how materials developed from undervalued resources could respond to practical challenges in agriculture.
