CLIC TERRA™ — biodegradable mulch that protects soil without herbicides

Replaces plastic mulch, herbicides and manual or mechanical weeding. A patented biomaterial of keratin and plant fibres with industrial hemp, free of fossil plastic.

The problem

Plastic mulch breaks into micro-fragments that stay in the soil. Herbicides and manual or mechanical weeding cost money and labour every season. And heat and drought dry the soil out earlier every year. CLIC TERRA™ solves all three with a single material that stays in the field.

How it works

1. The material: a patented composite of keratin and plant fibres with industrial hemp, free of fossil plastic.
2. It is laid like ordinary mulch, as a roll, disc or pot.
3. It covers the soil, stops weeds and protects against heat and drought.
4. It biodegrades in the soil at a rate that depends on weight (200 to 1,500 g/m²): nothing to remove.

Applications: a solution for every crop

Every crop has its own problem. CLIC TERRA adapts its format, width and density to each plantation, irrigation system and soil.

Already field-tested

Vineyards. Problem: weeds under the vines, herbicides and brush-cutting, and soil that overheats in heatwaves. CLIC TERRA, laid in strips under the vines, stops weeds, retains moisture and cools the soil, without interfering with work between rows.

Olive groves. Problem: drought and high evaporation in Mediterranean areas, and weeds competing for water. CLIC TERRA, around the olive trees or in strips, retains soil water.

Fruit trees. Problem: young trees compete with weeds for water and nutrients. CLIC TERRA, under the trees, limits evaporation and competition.

Vegetable growing. Problem: plastic mulch breaks into microplastics and has to be removed every season. CLIC TERRA replaces it and stays in the soil, with format and density matched to the crop cycle.

Urban trees, parks and gardens. Problem: maintenance, herbicides banned in public spaces, and irrigation. CLIC TERRA, around trees and shrubs, retains moisture and reduces maintenance.

Compatible, with case-by-case validation

Water-intensive crops: mango and avocado. Problem: very high irrigation use in water-scarce areas. CLIC TERRA covers the soil under the tree to reduce evaporation.

Nuts: almond and pistachio. Problem: climate adaptation, drought and efficient water management on increasingly intensive farms. CLIC TERRA covers the soil under the trees to retain moisture and stop weeds without herbicides.

Berries (strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry). Problem: soil moisture and fruit touching the ground.

Greenhouses and tunnels. Problem: plastic mulch and weeds in soil-grown crops with drip irrigation.

Aromatic and medicinal plants (lavender, rosemary, thyme). Problem: soil maintenance and herbicides.

Floriculture and nurseries. Problem: weeds while plants establish. With CLIC POT discs and pots.

Reforestation and ecological restoration. Problem: degraded soils and new plants that fail to take root for lack of water.

Less plastic. Less evaporation. Fewer herbicides. More protection for the soil.

Disc format

The same CLIC TERRA material, cut into discs for pots, balconies, gardens and nurseries. Keeps moisture in, stops weeds and protects roots, without plastic. Several diameters available.

Pot format: vegan CLIC POT™

CLIC TERRA's biodegradable, vegan, plastic-free pot. Keeps the substrate moist and saves water. For seedbeds, germination, nurseries, gardening, landscaping and urban green spaces. Several sizes.

Technology: CLIC TERRA Smart

The Smart version adds agro-climatic sensors in the field. They measure soil temperature, moisture and water use, and the Clic Recycle app turns that data into easy-to-use information on when and how much to irrigate.

AI measures and reports the impact, and blockchain traceability follows the keratin from the salon to your plot.

Proven performance

Weeds: none under CLIC TERRA in every field trial carried out.

Water: around 30% less irrigation (field trials, University of Almería · Cajamar).

Harvest: around 10% higher yield in vegetable growing.

Heat: −9 °C in the root zone on heatwave days (from 38.5 °C to 29.4 °C), and from 56 to 0 days with soil above 35 °C. Dry-farmed vineyard, June–October 2026, 118 days, 0–40 cm profile.

Validation: 1-year field trial with the University of Almería, biodegradation tested at AINIA, soil microbiome study, and ISO 14044 LCA with critical review.

Why CLIC TERRA

Less water

Retains soil moisture: around 30% less irrigation in vegetable growing.

Weed control, more biodiversity

No weeds in any trial. Without herbicides or tillage, soil life is preserved and biodiversity improves.

Soil regulator

It warms the soil in winter and cools it in summer: up to 9 °C cooler in the root zone during heatwaves.

Nothing to remove

It biodegrades in the soil at a rate that depends on weight (200 to 1,500 g/m²). No plastic to collect or send to landfill.

Higher yield

Around 10% higher yield in vegetable growing.

Traceability from salon to field

The keratin in every roll is traced by blockchain, from the salon to your plot.
