Clic Recycle among the eight projects selected for the Agrobiotech Lleida Investment Forum
Lleida, 28 October 2026
Agricultural innovation increasingly depends on finding new ways to use resources, improve production systems and respond to environmental pressures. The Agrobiotech Lleida Investment Forum, held on 28 October 2026 at Fira de Lleida, offered a platform for emerging agri-food projects to present their proposals to potential investors.
Clic Recycle was one of the eight projects selected to present its work at the forum, showcasing its activity in circular materials and their agricultural applications at an event focused on innovation and investment opportunities.
Rethinking waste as a resource for agriculture
Clic Recycle's approach starts from materials that are usually thrown away: keratin collected from hair salons and industrial hemp waste. Instead of treating these resources as waste with no added value, the company explores how to use their properties to develop materials for practical applications.
One of these solutions is CLIC TERRA, a patented biodegradable mulch made from recovered keratin and plant fibres. Developed for agricultural use, the material offers an alternative to conventional plastic ground covers.
Its role goes beyond covering the ground. CLIC TERRA is designed to protect agricultural soils, retain moisture and regulate temperature, while helping to reduce weed growth, erosion and reliance on herbicides.
CLIC TERRA and the challenges facing agricultural soils
Soil protection and water management are becoming increasingly important in agriculture. Higher temperatures and changing rainfall patterns put additional pressure on crops, while conventional plastic mulches create pollution and microplastic contamination as they begin to degrade.
CLIC TERRA addresses these problems with a biodegradable material designed to stay on the soil during cultivation, break down progressively and nourish it. Its ability to retain moisture and moderate soil temperature can help create more favourable conditions for crop development and support more efficient water use.
Trials carried out by the University of Almería have shown irrigation water savings of up to 30%, demonstrating the material's potential to contribute to more efficient farming practices.
The solution is also being developed through CLIC TERRA Smart Mulch, which integrates sensors and digital monitoring. This approach makes it possible to collect field data and track soil conditions, supporting better-informed decisions in farm management.
Connecting material innovation with investment opportunities
Clic Recycle's selection among the eight projects at the Agrobiotech Lleida Investment Forum placed the company within a group of initiatives presenting new approaches for the agri-food sector.
For companies developing emerging materials and technologies, investment forums can be an important part of the path from innovation to larger-scale application. They offer a space to explain what a solution is for, present its development and explore the conditions needed for it to grow.
From undervalued materials to agricultural applications
With CLIC TERRA, the company explores recovered resources as a functional agricultural material that can contribute to soil protection, more efficient use of resources and the transition to more circular farming systems.
The challenge is no longer just managing waste, but recognising its potential and developing applications that create value beyond its original use.
