We are deeply honored to announce that CLIC RECYCLE has been selected as one of the 33 global finalists for the Zayed Sustainability Prize 2025, chosen from 7,761 submissions across 173 countries. This recognition places CLIC RECYCLE among global innovators delivering inclusive, tech-enabled, and locally adapted solutions to urgent environmental challenges.
"Deeply honored for this lifetime recognition from the Zayed Sustainability Prize. Grateful to all who believed that even the smallest waste —a strand of hair— can inspire global change. This recognition strengthens our commitment to regeneration, circularity, impact and hope for next generation."
— Valérie Itey, Founder & CEO, CLIC RECYCLE
A legacy that inspires action
As part of the Prize's announcement, the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was shared:
"We cherish our environment because it is an integral part of our country, our history, and our heritage. On land and in the sea, our forefathers lived and survived in this environment. They were able to do so only because they recognized the need to conserve it, to take from it only what they needed to live, and to preserve it for succeeding generations."
Responding to that legacy, Valérie shared her personal connection to community-led innovation and the responsibility the finalist position brings:
"For me and my team , this vision is not just history — it is a living call to action. My journey began years ago in India and Vietnam, where I first experienced the challenges of communities struggling with waste, water, and sustainability.
Those experiences shaped my conviction that technology and innovation must serve people, and that real change is possible when we empower communities.
Today, standing here as a finalist of the ZayedSustainabilityPrize it is more than recognition of effort — it is a responsibility. A responsibility to carry forward Sheikh Zayed's legacy, to use science, technology, and resilience not for privilege, but for impact. To help communities not only survive, but to thrive, driving change from the ground up."* thanks I have no word …so Thankful !
Why this matters
The Zayed Sustainability Prize finalists were selected for solutions that are affordable, scalable and create socioeconomic value. This year's 33 finalists were chosen from thousands of submissions and represent breakthroughs across Health, Food, Energy, Water, Climate Action and Global High Schools. The Prize has a powerful track record: through its winners to date, millions of people have gained access to safe drinking water, reliable energy, nutritious food and essential healthcare.
In the Climate Action category, the Prize highlights circular and waste-to-value innovations. CLIC RECYCLE is recognized among these finalists for our work converting human hair waste into biodegradable mulch and marine filters — engaging thousands of users, removing hundreds f tonnes of pollutants, and drastically improving soil water retention and soil health.
What's next
