CLIC RECYCLE Recognized as a MedWaves Switcher on Mediterranean Coast Day

On 25 September 2025, Mediterranean Coast Day celebrated the region's coasts and inspired communities to act for sustainable development. Coordinated by PAP/RAC – UNEP/MAP, this annual event highlights institutions and innovators creating lasting impact for coastal resilience.

We are proud to share that CLIC RECYCLE was selected as one of the three Switchers featured by MedWaves, recognized for our work transforming waste into circular solutions that protect the Mediterranean.

Valérie Itey: Leading the Way in Circular Innovation

Our founder and CEO, Valérie Itey, was interviewed by MedWaves, sharing her lifelong connection to the sea and the importance of caring for our coasts, waters, and the Mediterranean.

Growing up and living around water and coast Valérie witnesses pollution firsthand. In 2020, she founded CLIC RECYCLE to turn overlooked waste, such as human hair, into circular, nature-based solutions that: Reduce plastic pollution, Regenerate ecosystems and Protect water resources

Innovations Making a Difference

CLIC RECYCLE develops science-based, circular solutions that actively restore marine and coastal ecosystems:

  • CLIC SEA™ Smart Marine Decontamination Barriers – Biodegradable, modular barriers that adsorb hydrocarbons and heavy metals, with IoT-enabled sensors providing real-time water quality data.

  • CLIC TERRA™ Biodegradable Mulch – Inspired by Valérie's grandfather, this solution regenerates soil while supporting sustainable agriculture, vineyards, and smart cities.

Valérie emphasizes that collaboration is key: when scientists, communities, policymakers, and innovators work together, we can design practical, scalable, and resilient solutions for lasting impact.

Recognition that Inspires Action

Being chosen as a MedWaves Switcher highlights our commitment to turning circular innovation into tangible environmental impact. It is a reminder that small, local solutions can grow into global change, protecting the Mediterranean for future generations.

Join Us in Protecting the Mediterranean - At CLIC RECYCLE, we believe everyone has a role to play in safeguarding our coasts and oceans. From transforming waste to designing innovative solutions, we are creating regenerative futures that are sustainable, inclusive, and science-acked and nature- and technology driven.
